SOOOO have you ever run across something on nico nico douga where you're looking at the comment boxes and then all of a sudden, there's some acronym you have absolutely no idea what it might mean?
I have. I've seen it in blogs as well =__= it makes not knowing the Japanese language even more confusing. I looked around on various sites last night to compile this list. Some of the descriptions are slightly modified, but most of which are from reference sources, such as wiki, about.com, etc.
Well, here we go~ ♪
Japanese Leet, usually known as the Kusachuu Language or Kusachuu Leet (クサチュー語 or
勹廾千ュ―言吾 Kusachuu-go) is a form of Leet enciphering for Japanese. This form of
Japanese is written with a set of characters that replace common Hiragana, Katakana and
some Kanji characters which look similar to them. Another form of Gyaru Moji (ギャル文字).
en.allexperts.com/e/g/gy/gyaru-moji.htm
arashi (あらし, 荒らし) - "laying waste" and can also be used to refer to simple spamming. (Oh hay, you mean a troll?)
DQN (ドキュン dokyun) - The association with being called 'DQN' is that, in short, you
are acting stupidly, rudely, immorally, or are generally elitist (even though you have no
position of power). The word "dokyun" was originally used in a notorious website as
discriminating against academic background inspired by TV program "Mokugeki Dokyun"
in which appear minority married couples, etc.
(ry - (以下省略) (typed out, “ika shoryaku”), which means “remainder of this sentence
omitted”. This got shortened to (省略) (“omitted”), to (略) (“omitted”).
www - A common way of laughing, www - lol, wwwwww - lolol. Stems from warai, or "to laugh". It is often strung together in long strings denoting the strength of the laugh (as in ちょwww), and then interspersed between the characters in a word to denote laughing while trying to speak (as in みwなwぎwっwてwきwたwww).
wktk - Shortened form of waku teku, which is an onomatopoeia for showing anticipation.
ktkr - short form for kita kore, "It has come!" Kita by itself is a semi-reference from 2ch and Densha Otoko. ( キタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!!)
dkdk - short form for doki doki, which is the sound a heartbeat makes when its pumping faster to um... express a quickening heartbeat.
orz or OTL - If you can't see it, this is kind of like a small guy "bowing" to express humbleness.
ky - Shortened for kusoyaro. Its usually said humourously, but quite literally it means mother fucker.
4649 - yoroshiku, with the 4 from yon or 四, the 6 from roku or 六, another 4, and 9 from kyu or 九. It can be abbreviated to 46 or yoro.
Interesting.... I've seen (ry alot.. in blog entries. I had no idea what it meant until last night when I was tracking these things down... I wanted to find out what (ry meant first off, and it just went from there xD;
ky though.. I had no idea.. how awesome to know that!
I feel like I'm trying to decipher Miyaviese with some of this...
い かn せえ てぃs をうld すck と はヴぇ と れあd wwww
(those of you who don't know, Miyavi and GACKT messaged each other back and forth using hiragana phonetics, but in English about a year or so back... It ended after Miyavi himself got confused when people on his My Space page started using it to write back in the comments xDDD)
Can anyone add to the list? :3
